On Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2020 at approximately 2.20 a.m., police responded to a 911 call regarding a man who had been shot in front of 341 East 194th Street, in the 52nd precinct. A preliminary investigation determined that a 36-year-old man was shot in the torso by an unknown individual at the location, and was transported via private means to St. Barnabas Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Candidate for New York City Council’s 14th District, Adolfo Abreu, announced Nov. 14, his campaign’s endorsement from the New York City Democratic Socialists (NYC-DSA), a self-described, people-powered force for working-class communities and democratic socialism across the five boroughs. Since announcing his candidacy in August, Abreu has also received the endorsement of Tenants PAC and, according to his campaign, continues to garner support from an array of community leaders and activists.
