In response to a shooting in the head of a 20-year-old woman in Mount Vernon, Westchester, at around 2.30 a.m. on Saturday morning, Sept. 25, various U.S., New York and Westchester elected officials issued a statement on Saturday afternoon, together with representatives from various community and faith-based organizations. “This morning, we were devastated and heartbroken to learn that a 20-year-old woman was shot in the head in Mount Vernon early Saturday. State Comptroller: Bronx Residents Have $353,393,103.00 in Unclaimed Funds

New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli recently announced that Bronx residents have $353,393,103.00 in unclaimed funds waiting to be paid.   According to the State comptroller’s office, banks, insurance companies, corporations and the courts are among the many organizations required by law to report dormant accounts to the State comptroller. These organizations must attempt to notify residents by mail regarding such dormant accounts, and publish the information in newspapers.   According to the City, monies paid to the courts for legal matters, are held in an interest-bearing, NYC Department of Finance common trust account. Pelham Parkway: Man Arrested on Murder Charges following Fatal Shooting

A 25-year-old man has been arrested on murder charges following a shooting in Pelham Parkway.   On Thursday, May 6, at approximately 3.07 p.m., police responded to a 911 call regarding a man who had been shot at 2143 Cruger Avenue in the Pelham Parkway section of the Bronx, located in the 49th precinct.   Upon arrival police observed a 23-year-old man, unconscious and unresponsive, with a gunshot wound to his chest. UPDATE Fordham Heights: 29-Year-Old Man Arrested following Fatal Shooting

Police confirm that a 29-year-old man from East Harlem has been arrested in the context of the murder investigation of Omar Sepúlveda, 20, of Fordham Heights, who died in August following a shooting inside a residential building in Fordham Heights.   Police responded to a call regarding an assault inside an apartment of a residential building on Creston Avenue, located in the 46th precinct, on Wednesday, Aug. 11, at approximately 7.11 p.m.   Upon arrival, officers observed the 20-year-old victim with three gunshot wounds, lying unconscious and unresponsive inside the hallway of the location.
