New York City’s trendy downtown culture visited the Bronx on April 2, as the Mobile Unit of Joseph Papp’s celebrated Public Theater presented the classic play by William Shakespeare, Romeo & Juliet, at Williamsbridge Oval Recreation Center. SLAMMIN’ IN FORDHAM. Police are on the lookout for the driver of this apparent stolen vehicle. The thief fled the scene after jumping a sidewalk and slamming into this sidewalk-shed. The incident was reported at just before 4 p.m., on Apr. 7, along East Fordham Road, between the Grand Concourse and Valentine Avenue. One witness reported the male driver got out of the vehicle and quickly started to run away from the scene, as police and fire crews were still responding. No injuries were reported.

The Norwood News won three prizes at the annual New York Press Association’s Better Newspaper Contest, including a first-place prize for Sports Feature to the paper’s editor-in-chief, David Cruz. Despite a gaggle of press following Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton all the way up to the Bronx, most of the borough’s local media were unaware of the stop and had missed it altogether. Video from CNN showed Mrs. Clinton making a stop in front of Yankee Stadium with Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. showing her around.
