Hostages Held in Morris Heights – Now Secure

Police and EMS responded to reports of an armed barricade at 1870 Andrews Ave S. in Morris Heights on May 1 at around 2:44 p.m. Police later reported that the suspect had taken hostages. By 3:00 p.m., police reported that the situation had been brought under control. The 35-year-old suspect was taken into police custody. EMS transported the hostages to Bronx Lebanon Hospital for evaluation. The New York Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the whereabouts of two unidentified individuals seen in the attached photos who are being sought in connection with a burglary which occurred within the confines of the 52nd Precinct. Police confirm on Apr. 28 that they received a complaint of an assault on Monday, Apr. 27 at 10:53 p.m. inside a residence located in the vicinity of Knox Place and West Gun Hill Road, within the confines of the 52nd Precinct. The NYS Board of Elections announced the cancellation of the New York State presidential primary today, Apr. 27. The State, congressional and other elections will still go ahead on Jun. 23, as planned. Other state presidential primaries have been postponed in recent weeks but not cancelled.
