New York City Employee Arrested in the Bronx

On Sunday, Nov. 15, 2020 at 1.35 p.m., the following off-duty New York City Employee was arrested and charged in the 45th precinct, which encompasses Co-op City and City Island.   Robert Castillo, 51, an NYPD police officer, was charged with assault and criminal mischief.

SNAP, WIC Program Flexibilities Extended Due to Coronavirus Pandemic

Norwood: Kossuth Playground Reopens with $3.8 Million Upgrade

For approximately one year, Kossuth Playground, located at East Mosholu Parkway North, between Kossuth Avenue and Steuben Avenue, has been closed for renovations. Norwood residents had said the park was in dire need of an overhaul. City Issues Clarification on Open Storefronts Program

As reported by Norwood News, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio signed Emergency Executive Order 157, which created the Open Storefronts program on October 28, 2020. Candidate for New York City Council’s 14th District, Adolfo Abreu, announced Nov. 14, his campaign’s endorsement from the New York City Democratic Socialists (NYC-DSA), a self-described, people-powered force for working-class communities and democratic socialism across the five boroughs. The New York Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating Shantia Brown, 15, who was reported missing on Monday, Nov. 9, 2020 in the 43rd precinct.   Shantia was last seen on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2020, at around 12.45 in the afternoon leaving her home at 420 Howe Avenue in the Castle Hill section of the Bronx. DOB Warns Property Owners, Contractors & Crane Operators of Danger Amid High Winds

   The New York City area may experience severe weather, including potential wind gusts up to 40 MPH, starting, Sunday, Nov. 15. Accordingly, the City’s Department of Buildings is reminding all builders, contractors, crane operators, and property owners to secure their construction sites, buildings, and equipment.                                                                                                                                      The Department will be performing random spot-check inspections of construction sites around the city.
