The Legal Aid Society Calls on State Lawmakers to Extend New York’s Eviction Moratorium

The Legal Aid Society called on Gov. MTA Plans Intermittent Closures at RFK Bridge to/from Manhattan on Tuesday, Aug. 3

The MTA has announced that intermittent, full closures at the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge to and from Manhattan are scheduled for Tuesday, August 3, from 12:01 a.m. to 5 a.m. to test mechanical functionality and allow completion of any routine preventative maintenance. Intermittent closures are planned for both directions. Each closure will last approximately 20 minutes. DOH Three-Day Mosquito Treatment on Bronx Marshes and Wetlands Starts Monday Aug. 2

To reduce mosquito activity and the risk of the West Nile virus, the City’s health department will conduct a third aerial “larviciding treatment” of the season on certain marshes and wetland areas in the Bronx from Monday, Aug. 2 to Wednesday, Aug. 4, between the hours of 6 a.m. and 7 p.m., weather permitting.   A helicopter will be used to treat non-residential areas only. While three days have been allotted for the aerial larviciding, the process may be completed in less time. In case of bad weather, the process will be delayed until Thursday, Aug. 5, to Friday, Aug.

Bedford Park: Gunman Sought in Decatur Avenue Shooting

Police are looking for a gunman who fired several shots on Decatur Avenue in Bedford Park, apparently striking the front window of an apartment building.   The NYPD confirmed that officers responded to a 911 call on Saturday, July 24, at approximately 4 a.m. following a complaint regarding shots fired in the rear yard of a two-family home located at 2850 Decatur Avenue, in the 52nd precinct, and carried out an investigation.   No arrests were made following the incident and the investigation is ongoing. Mount Hope: Homicide Investigation Opens After Assault Victim Dies from Injuries

Police have re-classified a robbery investigation as a murder inquiry following the death of one of two male victims involved in a robbery and assault which occurred in Mount Hope on Saturday.   Police responded to a 911 call on Saturday, July 25, at approximately 2.38 a.m. regarding an assault in progress near the corner of East 176th Street and Carter Avenue in the Mount Hope section of the Bronx, located in the 46th precinct.   Upon arrival, officers observed two men, a 42-year-old and a 38-year-old, each with head trauma.
