Kingsbridge Heights: FDNY Responds to Residential Fire at 131 W 197th Street

Norwood News received reports from users of the Citizens App on Thursday, July 8, at around 9.35 a.m. of an apparent fire at 131 West 197th Street in Kingsbridge Heights. Three to four FDNY vehicles were seen in a video posted to the Citizen’s App in relation to the incident. Norwood News is unable at this time to corroborate if the vehicles are at the location of the fire or not.   A signpost seen in the video appears to include the word, “Reservoir.” Users said a video shows smoke coming out of a residence, and that firefighters were responding

Primaries 2021: July 6 RCV Tabulation of Bronx Borough President’s Race

  The New York City Board of Elections (BOE) published its second, updated preliminary unofficial report of the ranked choice vote (RCV) tabulation in the 2021 Bronx borough president Democratic primary election on Tuesday evening, July 6.   According to the report, District 16 City Councilwoman Vanessa Gibson secured 53.5 percent (49,392 votes) of the vote share after the latest tabulation, beating her nearest opponent, District 14 City Councilman Fernando Cabrera, who has already conceded the race. Primaries 2021: BOE Publication of July 6 RCV Tabulation Raises More Questions than Answers

The New York City Board of Elections (BOE) published its second, updated preliminary unofficial report of the ranked choice vote (RCV) tabulation in the 2021 mayoral primary election on Tuesday evening, July 6. According to the report, Brooklyn Borough President and mayoral candidate, Eric Adams secured 50.5 percent (403,333 votes) of the vote share after the latest tabulation, beating his nearest opponent, former NYC sanitation commissioner and food czar, Kathryn Garcia, by a slim margin of 1 percent. The report showed Garcia finishing with 49.5 percent (394,907 votes) after Round 8, indicating that Adams had won the race, as reported.

Fordham Heights: Search for Two Men following Armed Robbery

Mayor: Heat Advisory in Effect from Tuesday, July 6 to Wednesday, July 7

The City’s emergency management (EMS) and health departments issued a warning to New Yorkers on Monday, July 5, to take precautions to beat the heat as temperatures are expected to rise dramatically from Tuesday, July 6, until Wednesday, July 7. NYPD Seizes $54,000 in Fireworks and 6 Illegal Handguns Ahead of Independence Day

The New York City Police Department announced on Saturday, July 3, that it has taken $54,000 worth of illegal fireworks off the streets in the weeks leading up to Sunday’s Fourth of July holiday.
