National Weather Service NYC Says Dense Fog Expected until Thursday, Feb. 3 at 10 A.M.

The New York City office of the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a dense fog advisory which is in effect until Thursday, Feb. 3, at 10 a.m.   NWS officials said visibility would be around one quarter of a mile or less in the expected dense fog, which is due to hit portions of southeast New York, northeast New Jersey, southern Connecticut. They warned of hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility. “If driving, slow down, use your headlights, and leave plenty of distance ahead of you,” officials said.    

Off-Duty New York City Department of Corrections Officer Arrested for Assault

An off-duty, New York City female employee was arrested and charged in the 46th precinct on Tuesday, Feb. 1, at 8.15 a.m.   Keila Brown, 43, of the NYC Department of Corrections was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing and assault.   A person charged with a crime is innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.   Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). Morris Heights: Section of Masonry Wall Falls Off at 200 West Tremont Avenue

Norwood News received a confirmed report of falling bricks at 200 West Tremont Avenue in the Morris Heights section of The Bronx on Tuesday, located south of Bronx Community College and the University Heights border.   We reached out to New York City Department of Buildings for more information. UPDATE MTA: BX10 Bus Stop on E Gun Hill Road and Bainbridge Ave Temporarily Closed until March 26

  A flyer posted to the bus stop at East Gun Hill Road and Bainbridge Avenue in Norwood indicates that there is a temporary closure of the stop for the Bx10 bus (westbound) from Dec. 27, 2021 to March 26, 2022.     Photos show a heavy amount of snow surrounding the stop.   Norwood News reached out to the MTA for more information about the suspension, and were informed that they do not manage bus stops but suggested to contact NYC Department of Transportation (DOT) or NYC Department of Design & Construction (DDC) as the closure may be due
