Bronx Robbery Pattern – Car Theft

The New York City Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance with locating and identifying the individuals seen in the attached video and photographs, who are wanted in connection with several robberies that occurred in recent months across various Bronx precincts.

 

The first incident was reported in the 49th precinct. On Sunday, March 7, at approximately 5.05 a.m., inside 1280 Allerton Avenue (Amoco Gas Station), in Pelham Gardens, one person gained entry to the location by breaking the glass window of the front door. Four people remained outside and acted as look-outs. Once inside, the suspect took car keys from behind a counter and used one of them to enter a white Nissan Maxima. The group fled the scene inside the Nissan Maxima.

 

The second incident was reported in the 43rd precinct. On Thursday, March 4, at approximately 5.30 p.m., at 1440 Westchester Avenue (Westchester Avenue Car Wash), in Soundview, a 63-year-old female victim’s car (Toyota Rav4) was washed, and left unsecured and unattended in front of the location. The suspect entered the vehicle, and fled the scene.

The third incident was reported in the 49th precinct. On Friday, March 5, at approximately 3.09 a.m., at 2835 White Plains Road (White Plains Secure Parking), in Allerton, four people forced their way into the location’s office. One of the men brandished a handgun and threw the 28-year-old male employee to the floor while the others ransacked the office. The men took the victim’s wallet and credit card. In addition, they stole five vehicles (a Jeep Grand Cherokee, two Honda Accords, a Kia Optima, and an Acura MDX).

 

The fourth incident was reported in the 49th precinct. On Sunday, March 7, at approximately 5.05 a.m., at 2155 East Tremont Avenue (Parkchester Tremont Parking), in the East Bronx, five people assaulted a 66-year-old male employee and removed $540 in cash and five car keys from inside the office. The employee managed to enter a vehicle, and tried to prevent the group from leaving the location by driving towards them. The men all fled the scene, two on foot and three inside of a blue Acura MDX.

 

The fifth incident was reported in the 52nd precinct. On Tuesday, March 9, at approximately 2.55 a.m., at 2740 Webster Avenue (G and Sons Parking), in Fordham Manor, four people forced their way into the location’s office. One of the men brandished a handgun and the group tied up a 57-year-old male employee. They took $180 from the victim, as well as his wallet. In addition, they stole three vehicles, a Honda CRV, a Toyota Camry, and a Porsche Panamera.

 

The suspects are described as Hispanic men in the their 20s.

Additionally, the NYPD is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the whereabouts of José Medina, 22, in connection to this pattern of robberies. Medina is described as male, approximately 5 feet, 9 inches tall, and weighs approximately 160 pounds. He is known to frequent the area of 168th Street and Sheridan Avenue, south of Claremont, in the 44th precinct.

 

Pursuant to the ongoing investigation, Windelson Montero, 18, of Poughkeepsie, NY was arrested on April 7, 2021 at 6.05 a.m. and charged with robbery.

On April 27, pursuant to the ongoing investigation, it was reported by police that Angel Benitez, 19, of The Bronx, was arrested on April 26, at 6.50 a.m., also on charges of robbery.

 

A person arrested and accused of a crime is innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
