UPDATE: Belmont Area: Two Men Shot, One Dead

On Sunday, April 4, 2021 at approximately 9.05 p.m., police responded to a 911 call about two male victims who had been shot in front of 2105 Monterey Avenue close to Belmont, in the 48th precinct. Upon arrival, officers observed a 37-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the chest and a 31-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the head.

 

EMS responded to the location and transported both victims to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where the 37-year-old man was pronounced deceased, and the 31-year-old man remains in critical condition. There are no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing.

 

The deceased has been identified as Erik J. Hernandez, 37, of South Lexington Avenue, White Plains, NY

Pursuant to an ongoing investigation, on Friday, Aug. 13, the NYPD confirmed that Bruce McCoy, 29, of Boyd Avenue in the Wakefield section of The Bronx was arrested and charged with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a firearm.

 

A person arrested and accused of a crime is innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
