The NYPD is looking for two men who robbed a man of $37,000 in jewelry in Bedford Park before fleeing on a scooter, the latest in a series of such robberies to take place across the city.
Police said in the latest incident, officers from the 52nd Precinct were called to 3031 Grand Concourse, located between East 202nd Street and East 203rd Street, at 3:50 p.m. on Saturday, July 12.
A police spokesperson told Norwood News, “A 45-year-old male was walking southbound on Grand Concourse when two unknown individuals forcibly removed his watch, chain and earrings valued at approximately $37,000.”
The spokesperson said that during the robbery, the victim fell to the ground and sustained minor injuries to his head and neck. EMS said the patient had left before they arrived at the scene and the NYPD said the victim was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital in “stable” condition.
Police added that the two suspects fled on the scooter in an unknown direction. Audio from police radio transmissions at the time of the incident indicates police were looking for a blue scooter in relation to the robbery.
Norwood News was informed that no arrests have been made and no further description of the two suspects was immediately available.
