The NYPD said the department has no record of any shooting in Bedford Park on Saturday night, Sept. 27, following an unconfirmed report of around 10 shots fired by two people, one allegedly armed with a machine gun.

A social media post on the Citizens’ App referred to police having received a report of a man armed with a machine gun and another man armed with another type of gun who reportedly fired 10 shots in the vicinity of Bedford Park Boulevard and the Grand Concourse at around 11 p.m. on Saturday night. The man reportedly armed with the machine gun was described as being dressed in army fatigues.

When contacted, an NYPD spokesperson said they had no record of any shooting in the 52nd Precinct, which covers some or all of Bedford Park, Norwood, Kingsbridge, Fordham, Bronx Park, and University Heights, on Saturday night. In the early hours of Sunday morning, we asked one local business employee if he was aware of any such incident having taken place the previous night and he said he was not.

As reported, a man armed with a loaded machine gun was arrested inside the Kingsbridge Road subway station serving the D train on Nov. 5, 2024 (Election Day). He was later released on bail and was subsequently suspected to have been living in a building where a daycare home was located.

The latest major crime statistics for the 52nd Precinct as of Sept. 21 are attached. As reported, an NYPD official from the special victims unit told Norwood News on Sept. 15 that the increase in year-to-date rape statistics citywide stems from a re-classification in 2024 around the scope / definition of rape / sexual assault.
