Bedford Park: Local Man Charged in Valentine Avenue Shooting

A 25-year-old local man was arrested for attempted murder and other charges following a daylight shooting in Bedford Park earlier this month.

 

Officers from the 52nd Precinct were called to Valentine Avenue and East 197th Street for a report of shots fired on Saturday, April 15. The incident was reported at 2.22 p.m., police said.

An NYPD spokesperson said a 35-year-old man reported that he observed a man on the sidewalk who was unknown to him fire one round into an occupied and moving vehicle at the location and that the shooter then fled the scene in a black sedan.

 

Upon further investigation, on April 21, police said they arrested Saquan Gaddy, 25, of Valentine Avenue in Bedford Park. They said Gaddy was charged with attempted murder, attempted assault, criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment.

A person arrested and charged with a crime is deemed innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
