A 27-year-old man is stable after being shot in the vicinity of New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA)’s Pelham Parkway Houses in the Allerton section of The Bronx, police said.
An NYPD spokesperson said the department received a call at 8.55 p.m. for a report of a person who had been shot at 2355 Williamsbridge Road. He said upon arrival, officers discovered a 27-year-old male with gunshot wounds to the arm and chest.

The spokesperson said the victim was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi in the Morris Park section of the borough, where he remains in stable condition.
They said the victim was uncooperative, there is no description for the perpetrator, no arrests, and the investigation is ongoing.

Norwood News spoke to a group of male residents outside one of the NYCHA buildings located next to the crime scene and asked if they saw or heard anything.
One man said he heard two shots and later saw emergency services place a victim in an ambulance.

Gesturing in the direction of Bronxwood Avenue and Waring Avenue, another man told Norwood News his kids were outside playing in a nearby park but came inside to tell him that something had happened, and that police and emergency services were outside the building.
The young father said he had been gaming and hadn’t heard any shots. He said he brought his kids inside. Asked what they told him, he said they heard shots. Asked how many, he said more than one.

Another woman who was walking down Waring Avenue towards Williamsbridge Road said she saw the police cordoning off the crime scene but did not know what happened.
Pelham Parkway Houses is a NYCHA housing complex that consists of 23 six-story buildings, according to Wikipedia. Buildings I–IX are located between Mace and Waring avenues and also between Bronxwood Avenue to Williamsbridge Road. Buildings X–XV are located between Waring and Astor avenues and also between Paulding Avenue and Williamsbridge Road.

Norwood News asked the NYPD press office if the shooting took place inside or outside the NYCHA complex but the spokesperson was unable to confirm.

It’s unknown if a ballistics investigation had already taken place on the street on Williamsbridge Road or not by the time Norwood News reached the location, but there didn’t appear to be any cones/markers displayed and police began opening up the cordoned off area at around 10.30 p.m.

Some children estimated to be aged around 10 were seen walking in and around the area after the crime scene had been cleared.
As reported, a 78-year-old Mitchel Houses NYCHA resident was fatally shot in the Mott Haven section of The Bronx on April 16.
