A 15-year-old boy has died following a fatal shooting in the East Bronx and a 14-year-old was also shot but has survived.

Police said that on Saturday, Dec. 27,  at around 6.25 a.m., officers from the 49th Precinct responded to a 911 call regarding shots fired inside 1219 Adee Avenue.

“Upon arrival, officers observed an unidentified male with a gunshot wound to the chest,” a police spokesperson said. “Additionally, officers located a 14-year-old male in front of 2909 Laconia Avenue, within the confines of the 49 Precinct, who had sustained a gunshot wound to the left arm.”

Police said EMS responded to the scene and transported the 15-year-old to Jacobi Medical Center in critical condition, where he was later pronounced deceased. They said officers from the 49th Precinct transported the 14-year-old male in a marked police patrol vehicle also to Jacobi Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition.

They said there are no arrests at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing. On Sunday, Dec. 28, police said the deceased was identified as Eric Aitken of Waterbury, CT.

A 22-year-old man was fatally shot at the same address in 2023, as reported. An 18-year-old was subsequently arrested in connection with that shooting.

Meanwhile, as also reported, a 4-year-old girl was found deceased in the Williamsbridge section of the Bronx on Dec. 26.

Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson reacted to the latest fatal shooting of the teen, saying, “Our borough is heartbroken and in mourning over the loss of a 15-year-old boy and injuries sustained by a 14-year-old during a violent attack in Eastchester, and the passing of a 4-year-old girl in Williamsbridge. These tragic situations are any family’s worst nightmare and have left us all devastated, especially during the holiday season.”

She added, “As we await more information, we ask that everyone please keep the families and loved ones of these youth in their prayers during this incredibly difficult time. I also want to thank the NYPD, emergency personnel, and hospital staff for responding with care and compassion under these heartbreaking circumstances.”

Local Councilman Kevin Riley (C.D. 12) also issued a statement on the recent tragedies in or near his district (attached below).
