A 40-year-old man was hospitalized and is in stable condition after being stabbed in the Bedford Park section of The Bronx on Wednesday night, Dec. 10, police said.
Police said at around 8.06 p.m., officers responded to a 911 call regarding an assault at the Bedford Park Boulevard subway station, serving the D Train within the confines of Transit District 11 / 52nd Precinct.
“Upon arrival, officers observed a 40-year-old male with a stab wound to the chest,” a police spokesperson said, adding that a preliminary investigation revealed that the victim and an unknown male perpetrator had gotten into a verbal dispute and the perpetrator had stabbed the victim with an unknown object.
“The victim was transported by EMS to St. Barnabas Hospital in stable condition,” the spokesperson said. “There are no arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing.”
Meanwhile, EMS said they received a call at 8.07 p.m. for a report of a person stabbed at 199 Bedford Park Boulevard, the subway station serving the B/D train (N222). They said EMS transported one patient to St. Barnabas Hospital and no additional information was available about the patient’s description of injuries.
As reported, a short distance away at Jerome Avenue and East 204th Street, also in Bedford Park, and shortly after the stabbing took place, a commercial fire broke out at an Autorepair shop, generating a substantial response from the FDNY.
Local residents were disturbed by the incident, with Shannon Lee Gilsted Sucre, saying in part, “There was another stabbing in the Bedford Park Blvd. train station on the B/D shortly after 8:00pm last night. As you may be aware, this is the second stabbing in about a month. There have also been reports by community members of being followed and/or harassed at the station and walking into drug activity (using and dealing.)”
She added, “PLEASE don’t keep these incidents to yourself. Report them to MTA at their website portal (link in comments) and call 911 if it is a crime in progress. This cannot keep happening. I’ve been in touch with Council Member Eric Dinowitz via email this morning to update them. These are resources in our community that we should get familiar with.”
The other referenced stabbing incident was on Nov. 4, as reported.
