World AIDS Day Celebrated at NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi & North Central Bronx

WORLD AIDS DAY is marked by NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi & North Central Bronx at North Central Bronx hospital in the Norwood section of The Bronx on Dec. 1, 2025. Members of the community had the opportunity to learn about prevention, treatment, and resources in addition to testing with NCB’s Virology Clinic, Community Affairs, and Harm Reduction Departments.

World AIDS Day was marked at NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi in the Morris Park section of The Bronx on Dec. 1 and at North Central Bronx Hospital in Norwood.

Jacobi Medical Center officials said the hospital recognized the day by celebrating life and how far the world has come in expanding testing, education, prevention, and treatment for those who have been affected by HIV and AIDS-related illnesses.

Jacobi officials said Dr. Carol Harris was honored by Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson for what they said was her decades of work at Jacobi’s HIV clinic.

Patients of Harris recited testimonies of gratitude for her and for the care they received from the clinic after testing positive for HIV.

Gibson was joined by Jacobi COO Jordana Bailey and Jacobi associate medical director of HIV services, Dr. Jason Leider, in honoring Harris for her work at the hospital’s HIV clinic.

In addition to honoring Harris, Jacobi event organizer Jose Clemente was also recognized for his work as a community liaison at the hospital.

Meanwhile, students of Bronxdale High School also joined the event for a panel discussion to learn more about HIV prevention from doctors.  They also joined staff and guests for the “Parade for Change” to honor the lives lost to HIV/AIDS-related illnesses.

Meanwhile, at North Central Bronx, members of the community had the opportunity to learn about prevention, treatment, and resources in addition to testing with NCB’s virology clinic, community affairs, and harm reduction departments.
