Kingsbridge: Male Sought for Assault & Robbery of Off-Duty Officer

Police are looking for a scooter rider who assaulted and robbed an off-duty police officer in the Kingsbridge section of The Bronx.

 

The NYPD said officers from the 50th Precinct, which covers the northwest Bronx neighborhoods of Kingsbridge, Riverdale, Fieldston, Sputyten Duyvil and Marble Hill, as well as Van Cortlandt Park, were called to Waldo Avenue and Dash Place at 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22.

 

A police spokesperson said a a 31-year-old male was inside a vehicle when he was approached by a male assailant on a scooter who struck the victim in the head with his helmet.

The spokesperson said the suspect then stole personal property belonging to the victim, an off-duty police officer, before fleeing northbound on Waldo Avenue. They said the officer was not seriously injured. Police have made no arrests in the case, but continue to investigate.

 

It’s unknown if the officer involved was assigned to the 50th Precinct or just happened to be in the area. Major crime statistics for the 50th Precinct are attached.
