Police said a 60-year-old, off-duty, male employee of the NYC Department of Education (DOE) has been arrested for sexual abuse.

An NYPD spokesperson said that on Monday, Dec. 8, at 1.58 p.m., Kim Kiho was arrested within the confines of the 40th Precinct, which covers the Bronx neighborhoods of Port Morris, Mott Haven, and Melrose.

The spokesperson said Kiho was charged with forcible touching and sexual abuse. He is presumed innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.

Norwood News has reached out to NYC Public Schools for comment and an NYC Public Schools spokesperson replied, saying, “This alleged behavior is unacceptable, and the safety of our students is our top priority. This individual is being removed from the school community, and if convicted, we will pursue termination.”

A lawyer for Kim later shared the following statement on his client’s behalf. “Mr. Kim disputes the allegations, and the evidence will show that no criminal conduct occurred. I am confident the charges will ultimately be dismissed.”
