Police said they have made an arrest following the fatal stabbing of a 35-year-old man in the Edenwald section of The Bronx.

They said that on Wednesday morning, Oct. 22, at around 4 a.m., officers from the 47th Precinct responded to a 911 call regarding a man who had been stabbed at 1138 East 229th Street in Police Service Area 8, which serves the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) developments in the confines of the 43rd and 45th precincts.

“Upon arrival, officers observed a 35-year-old male, unconscious and unresponsive with multiple stab wounds throughout the body,” an NYPD spokesperson said. “EMS responded and pronounced the aided male deceased on scene.” They said the office of city’s chief medical examiner will determine the cause of death, there are no arrests at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing.

They said the deceased has since been identified as Miguel Batiz, 35, from the Edenwald section of The Bronx.

Pursuant to an ongoing investigation, police later said on Wednesday night that Enoch Rosado, 67, of Edenwald was arrested the same day at 7 p.m. in the confines of the 47th Precinct, which covers the Bronx neighborhoods of Woodlawn, Wakefield, Williamsbridge, Baychester, Edenwald, Olinville, Fishbay, and Woodlawn Cemetery.

They said he was charged with murder, manslaughter, and criminal possession of a weapon. He is presumed innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
