UPDATE City Island: Woman Killed in Fatal Stabbing, Man Also Stabbed & Hospitalized

Police said a 44-year-old man has been arrested following the fatal stabbing of a 30-year-old woman on City Island on Wednesday, Sept. 17. A 44-year-old man was also injured during the incident but survived.

As reported, an NYPD spokesperson said that the incident took place at around 8.10 p.m. when police were informed of an assault in the vicinity of Park Drive and City Island Road. They said officers from the 45th Precinct were informed that a 30-year-old female victim was stabbed multiple times about the body, and a 44-year-old male was stabbed in the right forearm.

 

“The victims were transported by private means to Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital, where the 30-year-old female succumbed to her injuries and was later pronounced deceased,” a police spokesperson said. “The 44-year-old male victim is listed in stable condition.”

 

Police said there were immediate arrests, and the investigation remained ongoing. The deceased was identified as Anthonella Contreras Linarez, 30, from the South Bronx.

 

Pursuant to an ongoing investigation, police said Franklin Batallas, 44, of Longwood was arrested on Sept. 19, at 1 p.m. They said he was charged with murder, two counts of assault, and criminal possession of a weapon.

 

He is presumed innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
