Jerome Park: Man Sought in Connection with Assault of Taxi Driver Slashed in Face

The NYPD is asking for the public’s assistance in ascertaining the whereabouts of the unidentified male seen in the attached photo and video, who is sought in connection with an assault, previously reported by Norwood News, which occurred within the confines of the 52nd precinct.

On Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2020 at approximately 10.33 p.m., the victim, a 25-year-old male taxi driver, picked up an unidentified male street-hail in the vicinity of Jerome Avenue and West 184th Street in the University Heights section of the Bronx.

A verbal dispute ensued as the victim drove the passenger to his destination in Jerome Park. The dispute became physical when the passenger, who was in the back seat, punched the victim as he was driving.

The victim stopped his taxi in front of 40 West Mosholu Parkway South, where both he and the passenger exited the vehicle. The passenger produced a box cutter and slashed the driver on the left side of his face. The passenger then fled on foot. EMS transported the victim to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he underwent surgery, in stable condition.

A photo and video are attached and available at DCPI. They show the passenger in the vicinity of Jerome Avenue and West 184th Street, shortly before he entered the victim’s taxi number 2233.
