  The NYC Campaign Finance Board (CFB) approved, on June 23, public matching funds payments totaling $1,316,540 in the final round of payment opportunities for 2023 City Council primaries. Board Chair Frederick Schaffer approved the payments pursuant to a delegation of authority from the Board.   As reported, to qualify for public funds, candidates must demonstrate support by raising small contributions in their communities.   New York City Campaign Finance Board (CFB) approved on May 15 “matching funds” payments to various 2023 city council candidates for election in the upcoming June primaries. UPDATE Nathalia Fernandez Declares Historic Victory in Senate District 34 Race

Democratic Assemblywoman Nathalia Fernandez (A.D. 80) has declared victory in her State senate general election race in S.D. 34, having secured 64.74 percent of the total votes by 10.55 p.m. on Election Night, based on early voting and Election Day vote unofficial tallies. Absentee and overseas ballots still have to be counted. Her opponent, Republican, Samantha Zherka, won 35.16 percent of the vote on Election Night, as reported. Columbus Day Celebrated in Morris Park with Annual Parade
