Jacobi Opens New Pride Health Center, Vowing to Continue its Provision of Culturally Competent Healthcare

NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi announced on Friday, Oct. 15, the opening of its new comprehensive Pride Health Center. Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark and New York City Police Commissioner Dermot Shea announced details, on June 24, of another Bronx Gun Buyback event, where people can turn in operable handguns or assault rifles, no questions asked, and receive a cash card and free iPad. Executive Director of North Central Bronx Hospital Promoted to New Position in Harlem

  Mitchell Katz, MD and president and CEO at NYC Health + Hospitals, the City’s public hospital system, announced on Friday, Feb. 26, that Cristina Contreras, executive director of NYC Health + Hospitals/North Central Bronx (NCB), located in Norwood, will be promoted to CEO of NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan based in East Harlem.   It was also announced that Christopher Roker, CEO of NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan in East Harlem, will serve as CEO of NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln in Mott Haven. Commemorative “Care” Mural Unveiled at Jacobi Medical Center

On Thursday Sept. 3, 2020, a commemorative “Care” mural was unveiled in the patio of the rotunda building (building 4) at Jacobi Medical Center in the Morris Park section of the Bronx.   The idea behind the mural was to promote greater neighborhood wellness, and to help build trust and engagement between the community and the hospital.   Designed by artists, Andrei Krautsou and Yulia Puhach, the project was an artistic collaboration with the staff of Jacobi Medical Center, in conjunction with the Laurie M.
