AG Sues Fraudulent Bronx Immigration Lawyers for Scamming Immigrants

New York Attorney General Letitia James filed a lawsuit on Jan. 22 against Kofi Amankwaa, 69, a Bronx immigration lawyer, and others operating in his Concourse-located office, Sylvester Boateng, Nana Adoma Kontoh, Betty Smith, and Kofi Amankwaa Jr., 37, son of Kofi Amankwaa, for allegedly running an illegal scheme that scammed hundreds of vulnerable immigrants into paying thousands of dollars for fraudulent services that caused many to be deported or have their green card applications denied.

Missing Girl, 17, Likely Victim of Sex Trafficking, Located in Wakefield Motel

The following is an extended version of the story that appears in our latest print edition.   A 17-year-old girl, who police say had been reported missing from Brooklyn was located by a nonprofit representative at the Metro Motel in the Wakefield section of The Bronx on Saturday, July 23. UPDATE: Scott Stringer Joins Andrew Yang, Drops Out of Mayoral Primary Race

New York City comptroller and mayoral candidate, Scott Stringer, confirmed he has dropped out of the mayoral race. The news was confirmed in a statement issued by his campaign on Tuesday evening, June 29, and comes on the back of underwhelming Round 1 results for the candidate post Primary Election Night, on June 22, and a campaign that was, in the latter stages at least, marred by controversy amid allegations of sexual misconduct which the comptroller has denied.

UPDATE NYC Mayoral Race: Biaggi, Rivera, Others Officially Rescind Support of Scott Stringer

State Sen. Alessandra Biaggi formally rescinded her support of mayoral candidate, City Comptroller Scott Stringer, on Friday evening, April 30.
