NYPD Records Fewest Citywide Shooting Incidents, Victims & Murders in History While Bronx Stats Rise

Police Commissioner Jessica S. Tisch announced March 2 that the NYPD delivered the fewest shooting incidents, shooting victims, and murders in recorded history for the first two months of 2026, adding that for January and February combined, the city had 83 shooting incidents and 97 shooting victims, beating the previous all-time lows of 92 and 105, set in 2025 and 2019, respectively. She said so far this year, the city has recorded 32 murders, beating the previous all-time low of 38 set in 2018.

Off-duty CBP Agent Shot in Manhattan Allegedly by Gunman Sought for Prior Bronx Robbery & Stabbing

An off-duty, 42-year-old, male U.S. Customs & Border Patrol (CBP) officer who was in Riverside Park in Morningside Heights in Upper Manhattan with a 40-year-old female companion on Saturday night, July 19, shortly before midnight, was shot by a 21-year-old man who is wanted for separate crimes some of which took place in The Bronx in December 2024 and January 2025, police said.
