An off-duty cop was arrested in The Bronx on Monday on a DUI charge, police said. Police said that on Monday, Feb. 20, at around 8.46 a.m. Kenneth McNair, 43, an NYPD lieutenant assigned to Transit District 4, was arrested and charged in the 48th Precinct, which covers the neighborhoods of Belmont, East Tremont, and West Farms. A 37-year-old male resident of Fordham Manor has been identified as one of two fatal victims involved in last weekend’s multiple shooting incident in the Tremont section of The Bronx, according to the NYPD. Police said that Taniah Gale, of 588 East 181st Street, Bronx, NY, was last seen Saturday, Jan. 14, at around 8 p.m., leaving her home. Charges have been announced following the arrest of an unnamed 16-year-old male following a police-involved shooting in Belmont, police said. A police officer from the 48th Precinct public safety team is recovering at St. Barnabas Hospital in Belmont following a multiple shooting incident that occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, Jan. 17 in Belmont, police said. An off-duty City employee was arrested in The Bronx on Monday, police said. According to the NYPD, Tonya Simmons, 47, an off-duty employee with NYC Department of Homeless Services was arrested on Monday, Jan. 9, at 9.24 p.m. within the boundaries of the 48th Precinct, which covers the neighborhoods of Belmont, East Tremont, and West Farms, while Fordham University’s Bronx campus is nestled in the precinct’s northern corner. Simmons was charged with menacing and criminal possession of a weapon. A person arrested and charged with a crime is deemed innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
