Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced on Aug. 12 that a year-long investigation into the fatal shooting of Kawaski Trawick inside his non-profit housing apartment by a member of the NYPD on April 14, 2019 resulted in no criminal charges being brought. “Although we do not find that the facts warrant a criminal prosecution, this event does demand a thoughtful review of police procedures and training techniques,” Clark said. “Additionally, as a community, we must do a better job of providing appropriate support for the residents and staff of supportive housing services in the City.” Clark continued,

Police are looking for two men who they say shot a woman as she was walking with her boyfriend in Bedford Park. According to the NYPD, the incident was reported at 3.09 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 23, at Bainbridge Avenue and East 199th Street. The NYPD source said, “An 18-year-old female was walking with her boyfriend when two unknown men exited a vehicle and discharged several rounds.” The unidentified victim was shot in the right arm and was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital in a stable condition. With the current pandemic, economic halt, and growing food shortage foremost in everyone’s mind, members of The Love Legacy Chapel, based at Westchester Square in the Bronx, recently embarked on an ambitious, “Feed a Thousand” campaign, whereby they hope to eventually feed 1,000 hungry Bronxites each week. The New York City Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating Raymond Morris, 75, of 6355 Broadway, Riverdale who was reported missing on Friday, Aug. 21 in the 50th precinct. He was last seen on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2020, leaving his residence at approximately 10:30 a.m. He is described as a Black man, is 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weighs 150 pounds, is bald and has brown eyes. The NYPD is asking for the public’s assistance in ascertaining the whereabouts of the four unidentified men who are seen in the attached video and are sought for questioning in connection with a burglary that took place within the confines of the 52nd precinct in the Fordham Manor section of the Bronx. Sistas and Brothas United (SBU), the youth organizing arm of the Northwest Bronx Community and Clergy Coalition, a 46-year-old organization of students, parents, clergy and community members across the Bronx are organizing a rally to take action against school policing, and what the organization says are all the practices and policies that criminalize young people in schools. For the last two decades SBU has been working to dismantle the school-to-prison pipeline, organizing to eradicate suspensions, arrests, metal detectors, and school safety agents in schools that the organization says pushes young people out of school and into the prison system.
