Bronx Photos: Hustle and Heartbreak at Evander Childs

Last week, the Evander Childs boys basketball team fell just short of a return trip to the Final Four of the PSAL A Division Tournament, losing to McKee-Staten Island Tech in overtime, 82-85. McKee went on to win it’s semifinal match-up and is playing for the tile this weekend against John Adams on Sunday night. Here’s a slideshow from the emotional game. Berkshire Farm Center’s “Power Project,” 3464 Webster Ave. (off Gun Hill Road), is a free MICA support program that helps emotionally disturbed Bronx adolescents between the ages of 12 to 18 who use and abuse substances. Bronx Clergy Leaders Pushing Klein on Progressive Minimum Wage

A group of Bronx clergy leaders, including some with deep ties to the Northwest Bronx Community and Clergy Coalition, are rallying today at noon on the steps of Bronx Borough Hall to demand that the New York State Senate adopt an Assembly-approved plan to increase the state’s minimum wage to $9 an hour and make the rate tied to inflation.
