The New York State primary elections take place on Tuesday, June 22. The New York City Board of Elections (BOE) has released a recap by party of the absentee ballot applications issued and returned to them as of June 21, 2021. We have included the information as presented by the BOE below, broken down by borough, by Bronx council district and by Bronx assembly district.

 

In terms of the timeline for expected election results, the BOE has advised as follows:

 

When Will Results be Reported?

Unofficial election night results will be posted at the close of polls on election day. These results will include first-choice votes from early voting and election day but will not include absentee and affidavit ballots.

One week later, preliminary RCV elimination rounds will be tabulated and an unofficial report will be released. The tally will not include any absentee ballots.

The ranking of candidates may continue to change until all absentee ballot processing is completed and all cure deadlines have expired.

Preliminary RCV elimination rounds will be conducted and reports released every week until the election is certified. Final results in rank-choice elections will not be known until all absentee and military ballots are counted.

 

 

When Will Results be Certified?

Election results will not be certified until all ballots are counted including absentee, military, affidavit and emergency.

*Preliminary RCV elimination rounds will be conducted and reports released every Tuesday until election is certified. Final election results cannot be certified until all ballots are counted. Certification date will be scheduled upon completion of State mandated audit of central ballot scanners used in canvass.

 

Note that early voting began June 12 and ended on June 20. Since early voting has ended, Norwood News asked the BOE to confirm the numbers and breakdown of early vote received, to date. We did not receive an immediate response. We will provide any further updates, as and when they become available.

 

Note May 28 was the last day to register to vote in the primary election. Visit find my poll site to find your local election day poll site, and view a sample ballot. Check the hours and location of your poll site before you participate.

 

 

The deadline to request a mailed ballot online, by email, fax, or by mail has passed, and was Tuesday, June 15, 2021. The deadline to mail or drop off your actual, completed, absentee ballot at any BOE office or at a poll site is June 22, Election Day. The completed ballot must be postmarked on this date. If you elected to vote by absentee ballot, and have not yet returned your ballot, and finally you prefer to vote in person, you can still go to the polls on Election Day.
