Police said three people were hospitalized including a female teenager who is in critical condition following a multi-vehicle car accident on the border of Norwood and Bedford Park on Saturday morning, June 27.
An NYPD spokesperson said that at around 00.50 a.m. on Saturday, police from the 52nd Precinct responded to a 911 call regarding a vehicle collision that took place at the intersection of East Mosholu Parkway North and Bainbridge Avenue.
They said further investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad determined that prior to the collision, a Mercedes-Benz S55, driven by a 36-year-old man, had been traveling northbound on East Mosholu Parkway North. “The vehicle then collided with a Toyota RAV4, which was operated by a 55-year-old male and traveling eastbound on Bainbridge Avenue,” the spokesperson said.
“The Toyota RAV4 then collided with a light pole and three parked, unattended vehicles,” the spokesperson added. Police said the 18-year-old female passenger of the Toyota RAV4 sustained severe trauma to the head, EMS responded, and transported her to St. Barnabas Hospital in critical condition.

They said EMS also transported the drivers of both vehicles to St. Barnabas Hospital in stable condition, there are no arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad.
Alysa Haas, a local Bedford Park resident, later shared the attached video and photos with Norwood News of the site of the accident which shows shattered glass on the sidewalk, and remains of other vehicle debris. She said another local female resident told her her car had been one of those parked which had been damaged.
It is not the first time an accident has taken place at the site.
With collision investigations, the NYPD handles all criminal aspects of the investigation, while NYC Department of Transportation (DOT) reviews the street design at the locations of these crashes.
