Norwood: 27-Year-Old Man Shot on Decatur Avenue

Police are looking to identify a perpetrator (suspected to be male but unconfirmed) who opened fire and shot a man in the leg in Norwood on Saturday morning, July 12.

 

Police said they were alerted to a call regarding “a male shot” outside an apartment building at 3540 Decatur Avenue at East 211th Street at 9:53 a.m. on Saturday.

 

A police spokesperson told Norwood News, “Upon arrival, officers observed a 27-year-old male victim with a gunshot wound to the right leg.” The spokesperson said the victim was transported by EMS to St. Barnabas Hospital where the unidentified victim was listed in “stable” condition.

We were informed that police have made no arrests in the case and the investigation remains ongoing. One resident of the block reported seeing a man in a hooded jacket armed with a handgun in his hand run towards East 211th Street shortly after the gunfire was heard.

Although overall, crime has continued to fall across the City, as reported, there were no injures but residents were left shaken after a shooting on East 205th Street in Bedford Park on Friday afternoon, July 11. Meanwhile, on July 9, in Kingsbridge, as reported, two people were hospitalized after a late night shooting.
