Police in the 40th Precinct have arrested and charged a man with the kidnapping of a child in the Concourse section of The Bronx.

Police were called to the Grand Concourse and East 149th Street in the Concourse section of the borough at 6:08 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 30, for a report of a kidnapping.

A police spokesperson told Norwood News, “An individual removed a 1-year-old baby from a stroller after a dispute with the child’s mother.”

They said the child was quickly located on Morris Avenue at the home of the suspect, was taken to an area hospital for evaluation and later returned to its mother.

Police said they arrested Shaheem Pack, 26, of Morris Avenue who was charged with kidnapping, menacing and harassment.

The latest major crime statistics for the 40th Precinct, which covers the neighborhoods of Port Morris, Mott Haven, and Melrose are attached below.

An arrest is merely an allegation that a crime took place, and Pack is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

In August, as reported, a one-year-old baby girl died in an accident in a Unionport daycare. In June, a hired babysitter was charged with whipping two young brothers with a belt after being caught on camera in the Morrisania section of the borough.
