Kingsbridge/Riverdale: 35-Year-Old Man Stabbed on Riverdale Ave Close to Wellness Center Where Woman Fell Unconscious

A stabbing has occurred in the Kingsbridge section of The Bronx on Monday evening, July 20, close to the location of a Wellness Center where a 27-year-old woman fell unconscious on Sunday, July 19, and later died, as reported.

It’s unknown if the two incidents are related but a stretch of Riverdale Avenue around the address for the Wellness Center at 3190 Riverdale Avenue was cordoned off by police on Monday evening.

Norwood News asked the NYPD for more details of the stabbing and they said a 35-year-old male was stabbed in the chest during a dispute at 5 p.m. They said he was transferred to St. Barnabas Hospital in Belmont by EMS in critical condition and the investigation is ongoing.

 

Asked if they could say if the two incidents were related, police said it was unknown at this time. We were advised that the stabbing took place in the vicinity of the Wellness Center (Norwood News estimates around a block in distance), though not in front of it. However, the center was also cordoned off behind police lines as part of the investigation into the stabbing, as above.

A 35-YEAR-OLD man was stabbed in the vicinity of 3190 Riverdale Avenue, and roughly in between Tibbets Delta and Ewan Park on the border of the Kingsbridge and Riverdale sections of The Bronx on Monday, July 20, 2026 (as denoted by the red dotted line) and is in critical condition, police said.

Police also said the mobilization point (for police) for the stabbing was at the address of the center but the stabbing took place in the vicinity of the center.

As reported, the NYPD said Monday they have arrested 55-year-old Luis Rojas Cabrera of New Jersey and that he has been charged with reckless endangerment and unauthorized practice of profession after a 27-year-old woman was found unconscious at a center located on the border of the Kingsbridge and Riverdale sections of The Bronx on Sunday, July 19, and later died.

According to one police source, the woman was a customer / patient of Bereshit Wellness Center, located at 3190 Riverdale Avenue, where she was found unconscious. The website for the center is www.drluisrojas.com.

As above, the center is located a short distance away from where the stabbing occurred. It’s unknown exactly where on Riverdale Avenue the stabbing occurred but blood stains were seen on Riverdale Avenue between Tibbett Delta  and Ewen Park, close to the intersection with Irvin Avenue.
