Norwood: Car Engine Seemingly Ignites in Flames on Webster Avenue Near Parkside Place

A car fire broke out on Webster Avenue near Parkside Place in Norwood on Sunday afternoon, April 6, FDNY officials said. The car was seen opposite a gas station located at 3210 Webster Avenue in a coral-colored lane on a slight elevation adjacent to other cars parked in the inside lane next to the street edge, with smoke and flames emanating from the engine section.

Norwood Man Charged with Harassment over Threatening Texts

Police in Norwood have arrested a man after he allegedly sent threatening texts to a woman. A police spokesperson told Norwood News, “It was reported to police that on March 16, 2025, at approximately 4:30 p.m., an individual sent threatening messages to a 40-year-old female in the vicinity of Dekalb Avenue and East 212 Street.” The source added that no injuries were reported.   

Bronx Buccaneers Start New Season Without “Coach D”

The Bronx Buccaneers football team were back at the Williamsbridge Oval in Norwood for the first training session of the new season on Saturday, March 15, this time without their beloved coach Dwight “Coach D” Downer, who, as reported, was tragically killed in a hit & run incident involving six vehicles in the East Bronx just after midnight on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024.

Williamsbridge 31-Year-Old Woman Dies in Fatal Shooting

A 31-year-old woman has died following a shooting in the Williamsbridge section of The Bronx, police said. It comes amid news of a 17-year-old who was stabbed in Williamsbridge on April 1 and as a 27-year-old man was fatally shot in Belmont the same day.
