Housing Information Event in Norwood

The Mosholu Library will host a housing and enrollment event and seminar on Thursday, Jan. 31 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The event is a partnership between the city’s Department of Finance and Council Member Andrew Cohen. There will information on enrolling in the city’s Rent Freeze Program and tips on how to obtain property tax exemptions. To apply to the Rent Freeze Program, make sure to bring an ID, tax or income documents, copies of recent leases, and if you have one, bring your Social Security award letter. Mayor Bill de Blasio’s fifth State of the City address saw the immediate creation of a Mayor’s Office to Protect Tenants, a plan for increased worker protections, expanded 3K program, while also promoting a plan for guaranteed healthcare and a paid two-week vacation proposal for employees. Mayor Bill de Blasio’s plan to expand the Discovery program as a way of increasing enrollment of black and Latino students in the city’s elite specialized high schools has drawn the ire of Pacific Legal Foundation.
