Montefiore Medical Center has created a new text messaging program called “Bronx4Bronx” in an effort to help Bronx residents take better care of themselves. Bronx4Bronx delivers health tips and information via text message three times a week to its users. The program is available in English and Spanish, and users can opt in or out at any time. Star Chef Valenti Shows Good Food Can Be Healthy Too

In an effort to help curb the Bronx’s staggering obesity problems, Tom Valenti, the renowned chef, restaurant owner and best-selling cookbook author, showed off his skills at Montefiore Medical Center Monday evening to highlight healthy cooking and nutrition.

Bronx Notes: Find Out Your Healthcare Rights at ‘ObamaCare’ Forum

Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman, Congressman Jose E. Serrano and Hostos Community College are hosting a forum on the Affordable Care Act a.k.a. ObamaCare. Attendees will participate in a discussion with heath care experts. The forum will take place on Saturday, Feb. 23 at 10 a.m., at Hostos Community College, 450 Grand Concourse, at 149th Street, MBJ Cafeteria – C building, 3rd floor. Bronx Notes: ‘Sunday After Super Bowl’ Blood Drive at St. Brendan’s

St. Brendan’s Parish will hold its annual “Sunday After the Super Bowl” blood drive on Sunday, Feb. 10, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. All parishioners and Norwood friends are asked to participate, as blood donations are especially needed in the winter months. A picture ID is needed to participate. 16-year-olds and younger must have written parental consent as well as picture ID.
