Man Shot to Death On Bainbridge Avenue, In Third Murder In Seven Days

A 21-year-old man was shot and killed on Saturday on Bainbridge Avenue and E. 198th Street — the third homicide this week in the 52nd Precinct.

16 Cops Indicted in Bronx Ticket Fix Probe

Following a three-year probe by the Bronx District Attorney’s office into alleged ticket fixing practices inside the NYPD, 16 Bronx police officers and five civilians were indicted by a grand jury last week.

Video of Suspects in Murder of Bronx Father

The NYPD released video footage of two male suspects who detectives believe may be connected to the murder of Bimal Chanda, who was beaten on Saturday morning and died from his injuries yesterday morning. The story is now getting picked up citywide. Reports say Chanda used to be a cab driver and that he hoped to start a nonprofit to fight unemployment. Man Dies After Severe Beating on 190th Street

Bimal Chanda, a 59-year-old man with deep ties to the northwest Bronx community where he lived for nearly three decades died yesterday morning from injuries suffered during a severe beating on Saturday morning. In a cruel twist, Chanda and his family were in the final stages of moving out of the neighborhood, near West 190th Street and Grand Avenue, because of concerns about increasing crime, according to Chanda’s longtime friend, Mohammed Ali, who is a member of Community Board 7. On the morning before the 10th anniversary of 9/11, Imam Ifa Yahha made a jarring discovery outside the Masjid Hefaz mosque. An unmarked package stuffed with roast meat, a photo of Osama bin Laden, mysterious white powder, and the burned remains of a Quran was placed in front of the door on East 198th Street off the Grand Concourse, said a mosque member.

Father of Twins Found Shot on Decatur Ave.

A 25-year-old college student and father of twins was fatally shot on a recent early Saturday morning in the area just south of Bedford Park. Police said Bronx resident Kennedy Brown was found with a gunshot wound to the head in front of an apartment building on Decatur Avenue, off East 197th Street, just before 2 a.m. on Sept 24. Brown was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
