The man who allegedly committed a string of robberies in Norwood and Bedford Park is now under arrest, police say. He robbed eight women before being detained. Police say Germaine Butler, who is being charged with five counts of robbery and three counts of grand larceny, was hiding at his sister’s in Long Island after having been identified by several news outlets. The doorman there, who is a retired cop, recognized Butler and called in a tip. “[Butler] eventually left the apartment to order a pizza and [the doorman] called us,” says Captain Kevin Coleman of the 52nd Precinct. You may be hearing a lot about opioids lately, particularly in the Bronx where more residents die of drug overdoses than in any other borough. Frequently used opioids include illegal drugs like heroin, but also legal drugs like morphine, hydrocodone (such as Vicodin), oxycodone (such as Percocet and OxyContin), and codeine (such as Tylenol #3). iPhone Thefts in Norwood Police need help identifying two suspects wanted for stealing two iPhones in Norwood. According to police, the men allegedly stole an iPhone 8 and an iPhone 8 Plus from the T-Mobile store on 370 East Gun Hill Road on Oct 26. Both men are dark skinned and slender, police say. Police in the Bronx have identified a suspect wanted for robbing at least eight women in the Norwood section and surrounding neighborhoods. The man, known by police but unidentified by the public, remains at large. Officers with the 52nd Precinct’s Neighborhood Coordination Officers assigned to Sector C, where the majority of the crimes happened, are now patrolling the neighborhood during the day. Police are looking for a suspect connected to at least eight related robberies in Norwood, falling within the 52nd Precinct. A 64-year-old woman at Valentine Avenue and East 204th Street was approached by a man who snatched her purse before escaping on Nov. 6. The woman did not suffer any injuries, police say. A 33-year-old woman was also robbed of her purse. The man approached her in front of 359 East 204th Street on Oct. 27 when he grabbed her purse and ran northbound on Decatur Avenue, police say. Report: Missing Bedford Park Mom Could Be Dead

The NYPD believes a Bedford Park mother who vanished nearly two years ago is dead. They’ve since zeroed in on the woman’s husband, who left the country with their 9-year-old daughter a week after the woman went missing. Police told the New York Daily News that the victim, Mahfuza Rahman, 30, is likely the victim of foul play. Rahman disappeared on Dec. 8, 2015 after leaving her job at Bellevue Hospital where she worked as a nurse. Rahman did not report to work the next day, signaling to staffers that something may have happened. Security officers were dispatched to her
