Shooting at Devoe Terrace Leaves One Hospitalized

A man remains in critical condition at St. Barnabas Hospital after being shot last night at 2492 Devoe Terrace in University Heights, according to police. Police from the 52nd Precinct say the victim, who was shot just before midnight on Aug. 16, had a lengthy criminal history. They did not release more details other than he is 29 years old and was shoot in the upper left torso. Police are reportedly looking for two assailants involved in the shooting. The residential neighborhood where the victim was shot is steps from Devoe Park.

The NYPD has identified a third suspect in a string of robberies that have happened near French Charley’s Park near Norwood since May. The first incident dates back to May 5. Thieves have struck seven more times since. A 17-year-old suspect was identified in the third theft. It happened May 25 around 4 p.m. near Allerton Avenue and Bronx Park East. Police say the thief and another suspect approached two teens, flashed a gun, and robbed them of their iPhones and $4. Police released video of a suspect involved in the fifth robbery. Two men are wanted for questioning for a daytime robbery the University Heights section of the Bronx on July 24. The men, captured on video, were seen inside an apartment building on University and Aqueduct avenues armed with silver guns, according to police. Once inside, the men allegedly entered a 27-year-old victim’s house, tied the victim up, and ransacked the apartment. They made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
