Allerton: Motorcyclist Dies in Motor Vehicle Collision

On Sunday, Aug. 9, 2020 at approximately 10.19 p.m., police responded to a 911 call regarding a motor vehicle collision in the vicinity of Boston Road and Waring Avenue in the confines of the 49th precinct in the Allerton section of the Bronx.   Upon arrival, police discovered an unconscious and unresponsive male lying on the roadway with trauma to the head. Infected Mosquitoes Found in Bronx and Staten Island; no human cases

  The New York City Health Department detected mosquitoes with West Nile virus in New York City in mid-July. The infected Culex mosquitoes were collected in the Bronx and on Staten Island. No human cases have been reported to date.   Mosquito season in New York City typically spans from April through September. The Health Department is increasing mosquito surveillance in the surrounding area by installing additional mosquito monitoring traps. There are currently over 53 surveillance sites citywide. The Department uses an integrated management approach to control mosquitos which can transmit West Nile virus and will spray pesticide to target mosquitoes

Fordham Manor: Individuals Sought by NYPD in Burglary Pattern Probe

The New York City Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in ascertaining the whereabouts of the unidentified individuals who are seen in the attached photos, and are sought in connection with a burglary pattern identified within the confines of the 52nd precinct, in the Fordham Manor section of the Bronx.   It was reported to police on Monday, June 1, at 8.20 p.m., that at 301 East Kingsbridge Road, a group of unidentified individuals gained entry by forcing a roll-down security gate. New York Attorney General Letitia James filed a civil lawsuit on Aug. 6 seeking to dissolve the National Rifle Association (NRA), the largest and most influential pro-gun organization in the nation. Fireworks Shows Continue In Norwood

    Amateur fireworks shows continue in the Bronx, and in other parts of the City despite previous warnings from the FDNY that they were causing a disturbance, and were also hazardous. A video of a fireworks show was shot on 209th Street and Hull Avenue in the Norwood section of the Bronx on Friday, July 31.   Two cars initially blocked off 209th street causing a back-up of traffic, and once the fireworks display began, it was no longer possible to drive either through 209th Street or down Hull Avenue. Pedestrian Struck Crossing Major Deegan Expressway, Dies
