UPDATE New York State Primary Elections: The Saga Continues

  On Apr. 27, citing concerns over the probable spread of the coronavirus, the New York State Board of Elections announced the cancellation of the State’s presidential primary. The Sanders campaign released a statement the same day, describing the decision as an “outrage”.   “What the [NYS] Board of Elections is ignoring, is that the primary process not only leads to a nominee, but also the selection of delegates, which helps to determine the platform and rules of the Democratic Party,” the statement read.   Bizarrely, the Board chose not to cancel the congressional, state and other special primary elections

NYPD Kicks Off Virtual Summer Camp Program

The New York Public Library kicked off its virtual, six-week, summer camp program on Monday, Jun. 29, and will continue until Aug. 7. Every week, kids and students of all ages, and their families, can find a new batch of fun, hands-on activities that promote learning, reading, and creativity, all of which can be done from home.   The link to the website is here. PSA: Media Advisory re TV Rescan Requirement Effective July 3, 2020

People who rely on an antenna to access free, over-the-air TV (approximately a third of TV viewers) will need to rescan their TV to continue to receive local TV programming and emergency alerts. Bronx Bus Improvements Underway as Phase III of Reopening Approaches

Phase III of the City’s reopening plan is set to go into effect on Monday, Jul. 6, incorporating personal care services like manicuring and tattooing. Indoor dining has been postponed because of the recent rise in coronavirus cases in cities which reopened indoor dining too soon. Poe Park Greenmarket Opening June 30th As Part of GrowNYC Initiative

  Poe Park Greenmarket is opening for the summer season on Tuesday, June 30th, with Emil Alummootil, the market manager, saying, “It will be a great opportunity for community members to shop for the freshest, locally grown produce in their own neighborhood”.   Community members will be able to use their SNAP/EBT benefits at the market, including the new P-EBT program, at the market. Fordham Heights: Police Appeal for Suspect Wanted for Burglary

    The New York City Police Department is asking the public’s assistance identifying the individual shown in the attached video who is wanted for questioning in connection with a commercial burglary that occurred within the confines of the 52nd precinct.   On Monday, Jun. 22, 2020 at approximately 8:00 p.m., inside 62 West Fordham Road (telecommunications store), an unidentified male gained entry through the roof of the building.
