Suspect Sought in Bedford Park Stabbing

Police are looking for an individual who stabbed a young man along in Bedford Park following a wild street brawl involving teen thugs. Officers from the 52nd Precinct and paramedics were called to 3201 Grand Concourse, at the corner of Van Cortlandt Avenue East, when they discovered the victim lying on the ground at 8:30 p.m. The suspect, meantime, fled. At a low-income residence for the elderly in Kingsbridge, a resident opened their window one recent grey morning and plunged to their death, spattering on the pavement. The suicide, happening at the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Webb Avenue Residence directly across from the James J. Peters Veterans Administration Hospital, startled plenty of onlookers even as a security guard draped a white blanket over the body. Police have begun an active search for a Bedford Park woman they say has been missing since December. Investigators have intensified the search after the woman’s husband and child have also vanished. Police have so far zeroed in on the small, two-story home the couple lived. On March 6, a cadre of investigators, officers and police dogs were combing through the home on East 198th Street off Jerome Avenue. You could call Cody Childs and The Ladies of Soul the “staple singers” of local public libraries.
