Alternate Side Parking Suspended Through May 17

The de Blasio administration today announced that Alternate Side Parking Regulation suspensions will be extended through Sunday, May 17, 2020. Regulation will resume from Monday, May 18 to Sunday, May 24, 2020 for a citywide clean sweep, after which suspensions will continue for another two weeks through Sunday, June 7, 2020. Police responded to a complaint about a felony assault that occurred on May 12, 2020 at approximately 00:03 a.m. at Briggs Avenue within the confines of the 52nd precinct. A 36-year-old male reported to police that he had a verbal argument with a 37-year-old male who punched and slashed the complainant in the face, causing a small laceration to the mouth area. FDNY responded to an alert of smoke exiting the windows of Apt. 10A at 140 W. 174th Street, a 14-story, high-rise, multiple dwelling in Morris Heights at 11:40 a.m. on May 11. Twenty units and 78 members of FDNY were deployed to the scene. One victim was transferred to St. Barnabas Hospital. The fire was brought under control by 12:25 p.m., and the cause is currently under investigation. Norwood News is following up with FDNY on the cause of the fire.

Emergency services responded to a 911 call at around 12:13 p.m. on May, 11 at 1876 Cedar Ave in the Bronx about an emotionally disturbed person. A 32-year-old male was later taken to Bronx Lebanon Hospital for evaluation.

FDNY confirm that a dual fire alarm was raised on Friday, May 8, at 1:08 a.m., at a six-story building at 2840 Sedgwick Ave. Twenty-five fire units and 106 FDNY members deployed to the scene. One firefighter incurred a minor injury and was transported to New York-Presbyterian hospital. The fire was brought under control at 2:24 a.m., and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Norwood News is following up with the FDNY on the cause of the fire.

Mott Haven: Woman’s Hair Set On Fire

At approximately 1:38 a.m. this morning, May 11, police confirm that an adult female was engaged in a dispute with two other adult females in Mott Haven. One of the two females placed a lit cigarette on the hair of the female victim, before fleeing the location on foot. The female victim was not injured and refused any medical attention at the scene. The investigation remains ongoing. The incident location was the vicinity of 2640 3rd Avenue, Bronx.
