Bronx Notes: Fordham Road Sidewalk Sale

The Fordham Road Business Improvement District (BID) is hosting a summer-time sidewalk sale on Fordham Road. Businesses will display their merchandise and sales items on the sidewalks outside of their stores for the public to browse and shop. This sale will provide an outlet for businesses to display seasonal items and give shoppers and residents the opportunity for savings in their local neighborhood. The sidewalk sale started Thursday and runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, July 20 and Saturday, July 21.

4 Injured in Marion Ave. Apartment Fire

A fire late Tuesday afternoon at a multi-family row house in Bedford Park left four people injured, one very seriously. More than 60 fire fighters responded to a call about a fire at 2779 Marion Ave. shortly after 5:10 p.m. on Tuesday. According to the FDNY press office, the fire began in a second-floor apartment of the building and left one person with serious injuries and three people with minor injuries. Bronx Notes: Water-on-the-Go App

The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and the Department of Health launched the 2012 Water-on-the-Go season, an initiative that will make NYC water at portable drinking fountains, which would be an alternative to bottled water and sugar-sweetened beverages, easily available at more than 20 alternating outdoor locations throughout the five boroughs this summer. The DEP has also developed a free iPhone/iPad mobile app available for download at the iTunes store, to help New Yorkers access the daily Water-on-the-Go schedule.
