Many economists and sadly many politicians try to tell you many falsehoods (unintentionally) as to where our US economy: Was? How it’s going? Where is it going to go? In my opinion, one only has to look at the COLA adjustments that take place in our economy. COLA, an acronym for Cost Of Living Adjustments, looks to ensure your dollars adjusts up or down, based on the health of the economy. People receiving Social Security, for example, receive COLA adjustments annually, reflecting a bigger or smaller paycheck, “the following year” based on the health of our economy. “The following year”

Three masked men barged into a Norwood deli in a brazen robbery that took place during the overnight hours of Oct. 14. One Legend Deli at 275 E. Gun Hill Rd. was robbed at gunpoint for $1,100, according to police. One of the men, holding a handgun, demanded cash from the employee behind the register. While one of the other men tied up two other employees. The third suspect made his way behind the counter and took cash from the register and stuffed it into a backpack. Suspect Robs Victim of Wallet, Forces Him to Buy Shake

Shake, rob, and roll. A suspect (photo left) is wanted robbing a teen of his wallet, cell phone and forcing him to buy a shake at a store in Bedford Park on Oct. 10. The suspect, caught on video, approached the 19-year-old victim claiming to carry a knife as he put his hand in his pocket. The suspect then led the victim to a dark alleyway and to a bodega on East 194th Street and Marion Avenue around 6:30 a.m. The teen was then forced to use his EBT card to purchase a shake for the purported thief. The NYPD will host a gun buyback program on Oct. 13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the following drop-site locations: Mitchell Community Center, 210 Alexander Ave., and Holy Spirit Church, 1940 University Ave. Anyone turning in a handgun or assault rifle in working condition will receive a $200 pre-paid gift card, and a $25 pre-paid gift card in exchange for rifles, shotguns, and airguns. Out & About: Free Fall Festival on Jerome

A nursing assistant enjoying the “Weekend Walks” festival in Norwood on Sept. 29 with her two young children—put her medical skills to work after a volunteer suffered a seizure.
