June Primaries 2021: More Language Translation Services to be Available at Polling Sites

The NYC Civic Engagement Commission (CEC) will provide additional translation services in 11 languages at select poll sites during the upcoming June primary elections, with the aim of encouraging greater voter participation among New Yorkers with limited English proficiency (LEP). Although some voters in City Council District 11 and District 15 will already be familiar with the still, relatively new electoral system of ranked choice voting, having participated in the recent special elections on March 23, the upcoming June 22 primaries will be the first occasion when the majority of New Yorkers will engage with this new voting system. Three men are sought by police following a daylight shooting in front of a playground in Morris Heights. The NYPD is asking for the public’s assistance in locating the three, unidentified men seen in the attached photos and video, who are sought in connection with the reckless endangerment incident that took place in the 46th precinct. It was reported to police that on Saturday May 22, 2021 at approximately 3.42 p.m., the three individuals were walking northbound on University Avenue in front of Morton Place playground which was occupied, at the time, by numerous children and their guardians.

A man has died following a fatal shooting in the vicinity of the Crotona neighborhood. Police responded to a 911 call regarding a man who had been shot at the intersection of East 178th Street and Arthur Avenue in the 48th precinct on Tuesday, May 25, at around 6 p.m. A preliminary investigation revealed the 31-year-old man had been shot multiple times in the torso during a dispute at the location. He was transported by EMS to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. There are no arrests at this time. The investigation remains ongoing. The identity

The NYPD is seeking the public’s assistance identifying the individual seen in the attached video and photograph in connection to an assault that occurred in Olinville, in the 47th precinct. It was reported to police that on Tuesday, May 18, at approximately 3.03 a.m., in the vicinity of White Plains Road and East 216th Street, the suspect stabbed a 42-year-old male victim once in the torso, following a dispute. In a first for New York State, three Bronx judges were simultaneously appointed to the appellate division of the Supreme Court in the first department of New York State, it was announced on Tuesday, May 25.
