UPDATE Baychester: 10 Hospitalized following Motor Vehicle Collision

Officials from The Fire Department of New York said 10 people were transported to hospital following a motor vehicle collision on Monday afternoon in Baychester, south of Co-op City, and one further person was also injured but not hospitalized. The incident was reported at 3.18 p.m. at Einstein Loop North and Hutchinson River Parkway East on Monday, May 15, and involved four separate vehicles. An NYPD spokeswoman said an 80-year-old man was driving a jeep traveling northbound on Hutchinson River Parkway when he collided at the intersection with a yellow school bus, driven by a 72-year-old woman.

Four people were injured following a burn-related incident at 739 East Gun Hill Road, the site of a new building under construction, on Monday morning, May 15, FDNY officials said. All hands were called on Sunday afternoon, May 14, to respond to a fire on the third floor of a multiple dwelling located at 3003 Olinville Avenue in the Olinville section of the borough, just north of Parkside Housing Project. A fire broke out in the Wakefield section of the Bronx on Sunday afternoon, according to the FDNY, in which two people were reported injured. An off-duty New York City employee was arrested and charged in the 50th Precinct on Saturday, police said.
