Proposal to Re-open Jerome Park Reservoir Introduced

by David Cruz  A new bill by several elected officials aims to give the public access to the Jerome Park Reservoir by 2019. It’s a request that comes nearly a decade after the city Department of Environmental Protection fenced off the property as they were in the early stages of building the Croton Water Filtration Plant. The plant, built inside Mosholu Golf Course in Van Cortlandt Park, would clean water from the reservoir. La Bonita Bandera: Bronxites Celebrate Puerto Rican Heritage

By Richard Bucey Grand Concourse was a sea of red, white, blue and a single star as tens of thousands of Bronxites filled the streets for the 27th annual Bronx Puerto Rican Day Parade.  The parade spanned from East 192nd Street all the way to Van Cortlandt Avenue.  Over a 150 community, political, educational and cultural groups marched in this celebration of Puerto Rican heritage and multiculturalism.
