Four young people were shot and later hospitalized following a late night/early morning shooting incident in the Belmont section of The Bronx, police said.
Police said that at 9.52 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15, police received a 911 call regarding a male who had been shot at the corner of East 187th Street and Park Avenue.
“On arrival, officers observed a 17-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the right shoulder,” a police spokesperson said. “That guy was taken to St. Barnabas [Hospital] in stable condition. “Later, a 21-year-old male walked into…. was transported by private means to St. Barnabas with a gunshot wound to the right thigh.”
The spokesperson said that a few hours later shortly after midnight on Wednesday morning, July 16, officers responded to a 911 call regarding a male who had been shot at 4646 Park Avenue. “Officers observed a 22-year-old male with multiple gunshot wounds to the body, and then a 24-year-old male with gunshot wounds to the back,” the spokesperson said.
“EMS transported them to St Barnabas,” the spokesperson added. “They’re stable, no arrests, still an ongoing investigation.” He added that the two shootings are deemed to be related, and classified as one incident.
According to police, the case is being investigated as being potentially gang-related.
